Independent research firm: Thinkwise offers a unique strategy for modernizing core business applications with low-code
Apeldoorn, 12 May 2021 – This year, Thinkwise is one of the fourteen top vendors of low-code platforms that have been evaluated in The Forrester Wave™: Low-Code Development Platforms For Professional Developers, Q2 2021. According to the researchers, companies should consider Thinkwise if they want to modernize large core systems and want to benefit from the adaptability of low-code.
In Q1 2019, Forrester published the first Low-Code Development Platforms For AD&D Professionals report, with Thinkwise as one of the thirteen most significant suppliers evaluated. Since then the low-code market has continued to develop and, partly as a result of this, the functional requirements in the research have been increased. Nevertheless, Thinkwise is a Contender in The Forrester Wave™: Low-Code Development Platforms For Professional Developers, Q2 2021. Furthermore, the unique strategy of Thinkwise is recognized as well, specifically the focus on modernizing large core business applications. According to the researchers Thinkwise offers several unique features that are recognized in this report:
“The platform’s outstanding features are unique to its niche and not captured in our scoring rubric: for example, a massive scale up-cycler for app portfolios that extracts data models and business logic from mature tech (such as Microsoft Access or competitor Uniface) and automatically translates them into the platform. Firms that wish to modernize large core systems and take advantage of the adaptability that low-code offers should consider Thinkwise.”
Low-code strategy
An important observation in the report is that the corona crisis has demonstrated the added value of being able to develop apps quickly and the continuous improvement of software. Therefore, according to the researchers, the use of low-code platforms has now become a first-class development approach. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the capabilities of low-code vendors in specialized segments are becoming more mature and geared towards a wider range of use cases and developer demographics.
Forrester cited Thinkwise’s strategy as being impressive, but challenging. The complete focus on making large core-applications more flexible makes it possible to reduce the long list of many small apps to a far shorter list of integrated, comprehensive applications, that are developed by a central team using a master blueprint. According to Forrester, this is valuable for organizations, even though many of them may not yet be ready to embrace custom low-code applications for core systems.
Victor Klaren, Thinkwise CVO: “We are proud that Forrester has included our low-code platform in this research again, and that they recognize Thinkwise for our unique and bold strategy to make core business applications flexible with low-code. We have been pursuing this strategy since our inception, and it is great to see that the market is maturing so that more and more organizations are ready to adopt this approach. While not every enterprise is ready for it yet, as a pioneer in this segment we are seeing a clear increase in demand.”
